Key Features
The Royal Obidos Golf Course designed by Seve Ballesteros is truly versatile. From the championship tees it measures 6,765m, from the professional tees 6,692m and from the yellow tees 5,968m. This means that the golf course is perfectly suited to all handicaps, for both men and women. Several holes have lakes and streams, which, in addition to being significant hazards, announce the spectacular aspect and beauty of the Royal Obidos Golf Course.
Some Amazing Holes
The first hole of the Royal Obidos Golf Course is a challenging dogleg right that heads north, setting up a spectacular combination of holes overlooking the Obidos Lagoon. The feature hole on the front is the 5th, a thrilling 520m PAR 5, with a final approach on a wide undulating fairway surrounded on three sides by water.
The 9 holes on the back of Royal Obidos are located in the central and southern part of the development. Six of the holes meander between a complex ecosystem of lakes linked by cascading streams. The highlight is the 12th hole, a 420m par 4, where the golfer must negotiate both the drive and the second shot between and over two lakes and the curving stream.
My comments
This is the closest course to the Villa, an 18-hole course with a multitude of water features, rivers and small waterfalls. Very nice clubhouse with large bay windows offering a beautiful view of the driving range and the ocean in the background.
I consider this course to be the less interesting of the 4 courses in the area.

My Comments
This is the most challenging 18-hole of the 4 courses in the area, offering beautiful views of the ocean, especially the 18th hole with a very nice elevated tee. Very nice driving range to practice with a short game area as well as a large putting green. A must play, but remember to bring plenty of balls.

A design by Donald Steel
The 18-hole championship golf course at Guardian Bom Sucesso was designed by Donald Steel and opened in 2008. The architect’s intention was to replicate the look of some of the old classic courses. In particular, the long, undulating fairways were designed to be very different in setting and approaches.
Back to the roots of golf
With stunning views over the Obidos lagoon, the Bom Sucesso golf course is a combination of level (front 9 holes) and hilly (back 9 holes) terrain. It is a strategic golf course designed between lakes and well-placed bunkers.
Enjoyable for all levels of players
From the white tees, the Bom Sucesso is a golf course challenging enough to test the best players in the world. Yet from the course’s yellow tees, long carries are eliminated, so all levels of player can enjoy the experience of navigating around the well-placed hazards.
Bom Sucesso Signature Hole
The 17th hole at Bom Sucesso Golf Course is a thrilling par 5. It is set at the highest elevation on the course, downhill and from right to left over stunning ridges to a fairway overlooking the Obidos Lagoon in the background. The temptation for the better golfers will be to cut to the green in 2 but the steep slope to the left of the hole makes this a dangerous approach.
My comments
This is the most hilly course in the region, a 17th and 18th hole with high tees, a view of the valley, the surrounding forest and the lagoon, a cart waiting for you at the arrival of the 18th to take you back to the clubhouse if you are not motorized because indeed it seems necessary on this course even if I played it on foot.
PRAIA D’EL REY GOLF COURSE (9km from Villa Ferreira)

My comments
This is the most enjoyable course to play in the region, what a pleasure to tackle the first part of the course, 9 magnificent first holes in the forest with beautiful wide fairways, a very beautiful layout then embark on the second part of the course, a 9-hole total links course on the oceanfront; but be careful of the wind on this part of the route, incredible views of the ocean.

This magnificent golf course is a challenging par 72 with 18 holes crossing the beautiful landscape of the Serra do Socorro and Archeira protected area, in the Oeste region, nominated as one of the 100 most sustainable destinations in the world in 2015. This golf course was built on land once used by the Portuguese royal family as a hunting reserve. A pleasant course, suitable for any player, winding through hills, valleys and vineyards that stretch to the horizon. Most recently, Dolce CampoReal Lisboa was voted the best golf resort in Portugal in the Brand Awards organized by Brand Magazine. Facilities included: Pro-Shop, practice equipment, driving range (2 main tees, 2 chipping greens and 2 putting greens), clubhouse and exclusive lounge.
My comments
This is a beautiful hilly course and very interesting to play, but it is located 54 km from the house, a 40 minute drive, to be played only when you have already walked the 4 courses located within a radius of 8 km from Villa Ferreira.
